ROXY CELEBRATES LOVE

Real Wedding at the Rosewood Hotel in London

In the summer, I married the lovely Clementyne and Callum in an intimate ceremony with their closest friends and family. They chose the Rosewood Hotel in London.

They first met at a Vaccine’s gig when they were both just 14 years old. They didn’t exactly hit it off straight away – Clementyne remembers Callum as annoying, loud and obsessed with his quiff. Meanwhile, Callum remembers Clementyne as the girl with the odd hairdo: she was in her emo phase, with black hair and a severe fringe cut in the middle of her forehead.

They became gig-going acquaintances, hanging out on the peripheries of the same group of friends before losing touch. They eventually matched on Tinder when they were in their 20’s.

Callum proposed years later at a hotel Clementyne had always wanted to stay at — the Shangri-La at the Shard. He arranged with the hotel that the words “will you marry me” would be written on their room window, and appear when the blind was raised.

They returned to London — Clementyne’s favorite city in the world — for their wedding. It was a gorgeous, intimate affair in a mahogany paneled room in the Rosewood, with just 30 of their closest people present. They booked the Rosewood because of its dog friendly policy – having Melman, their Tibetan terrier there to celebrate their day was top of their priority list.

Melman, the guest of honour, sat at the front of Clementyne's train for the entire ceremony. He even drank water from the quaiche (the Scottish “loving cup”) with them at the end of the ceremony.

I caught up with them recently to find out about their day.

How did you find out about celebrant ceremonies and what made you decide to have one?

We first met Roxy at the un-wedding fair Shoreditch. We had never heard of a celebrant ceremonies before but it was something we loved the idea of once it was explained.

We thought our wedding would be short and somewhat boring, as due to us not being religious, we thought it would be the usual register ceremony. We were pleased that we found another option to this that meant the ceremony would be fun and something we could really enjoy and express ourselves.

How was the process of creating your wedding ceremony?

Roxy made the process very streamlined and easy. We done a questionnaire and a zoom meeting to build the stories and backgrounds, helping to form the ceremony that best suited us.

Looking back at the day, how did the ceremony feel?

Fab! Due to us only having a small wedding, we were conscious that we wanted the ceremony to be more personal. Roxy achieved this brilliantly with both seriousness and humour. We have since had many comments about how much everyone enjoyed the ceremony in particular.

What was the most special part of your ceremony and why?

We particularly liked the background stories and their delivery, it really made our story come to life for our guests.

Tell me about your vows:

We wrote our own personal vows that were special to us which Roxy helped us structure and form.

What would you say to couples considering a celebrant ceremony?

We would highly recommend a celebrant ceremony to everyone and anyone that asked. The personal touches really made our day even more special. And our guests thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of ceremony.

How did your ceremony go down with you guests?

Our guests all commented on the personality and personality of our ceremony and thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of ceremony. We wanted a chill and fun day and the ceremony really stuck to this brief.

What's the best piece of advice you would give to other couples getting married?

Make sure you stay true to what you want from your wedding and remember its your day!

Did you do the legal bit before or after your ceremony? or how did you combine the two together?

We did our legal ceremony after on our honeymoon in Las Vegas.

What did you love most about planning your ceremony?

We loved the feeling of making our day what we wanted it to be! And ensuring we as a couple were massive parts of it all.

Tell me about your wedding location. How did you decide on the venue?

We knew we wanted London to be the location of the wedding and then we started looking around different venues. We picked the Rosewood because of its friendliness to dogs. Our dog, Melman was a massive part of our day.

What do you remember most about your ceremony?

We remember the stories and personality in the wedding it really felt like it was about us!
